Take heart.

I couldn’t help myself not to reflect when I read what is penned on this man’s shirt – Salamat sa Diyos, Umusad na kami. IMG_4749[1] Have you tried to stop for a second and think of how God has been faithful in your life? There are things that have happened in my life that I couldn’t conceive that I was able to surpass. There were moments when we led out of ways to escape or even think through solutions to the difficulties in life, but God has been faithful not to give trials beyond our capabilities and/or strength. When we are at the lowest point in our lives, giving up seems to be the easiest thing to do. ‘I can’t do this. I quit.’ We’re starting to question things and even question God – why our prayers have not yet been answered. ‘He’s kinda late.’ ‘I need this now.’ Like we set our own timeline on when God should answer our prayers. I know the feeling. I’ve been there. Maybe you also already know the feeling of like you ran out of ways to resolve your own problems or you just feel like leaving and hoping that when you get back, everything will be fine. Here’s the thing: Life will never be easy.

John 16:33 In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

The Lord didn’t promise an easy or a trouble-free life. He expected us to know the opposite of it. He asks us to have courage for he has conquered the world.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.

Let us not belittle the God that we believe in because He is a faithful God and He promised to keep his covenant with us, not just today but for a thousand generations, He will continually love us. He is faithful to his promises.

2 Corinthians 1:18-20 18 But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” 19 …in him it has always been “Yes.” 20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

There may be jiffies that is hard to believe the promises of God, His word even. That’s when our faith is tested. Faith cannot always be tested in good times. It is best seen and appreciated by God during the toughest times. Know that we have a great God whose name is greater than any unimaginable difficulties that we could face. You have survived the past years, and you still can now because of God.

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
